It’s been a historic week for the nation, and today marked yet another monumental moment: the meeting of First Lady Michelle Obama and Melania Trump, the wife of the president-elect. The two spoke over tea in the Yellow Oval Room, and both were dressed in looks befitting the occasion. The First Lady chose to wear Narciso Rodriguez, a look that might appear familiar to the most ardent followers of her style; she wore it for her trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina, in March this year.

Accented with a bright sunburst-like motif, the aubergine-toned Narciso Rodriguez dress is a modified version of which the designer showed for Spring 2016. The color purple has dominated the conversation this week, with much discussion about the symbolism of the purple-tinged Ralph Lauren suit Secretary Hillary Clinton wore for her concession speech. As for the First Lady–elect? Trump kept her look demure and sophisticated in a black sheath dress that she sported with a coordinating double-breasted coat.
