Drama as MPs whistle President Kenyatta in parliament

The much awaited State of the Nation Address by President Uhuru Kenyatta was disrupted as legislators’ whistled him down prompting the speaker to order several opposition MPs out of the chamber.

After speaker Justin Muturi introduced the address within the standing orders, the President took to the podium and before he could start his speech whistling commenced.

President Uhuru smiled as the whistling continued and at some point muttered the words, “Wacha waendelee.”

After about two minutes of continued whistling other members attempted to signal those whistling to stop but failed.

Among the members who were order out of the chambers for whistling included Opiyo Wandayi, Gladys Wanga, John Mbadi and TJ Kajwang who were ordered out of the chamber by Speaker Muturi.

EJECTED

Also ejected was Millie Odhiambo who at some point was seen applying make-up and when her colleagues were ordered out she protested loudly.

Senate speaker Ekwe Ethuro confirmed the standing orders of both Houses and ordered Senator Moses Kajwang out of the chamber.

After minutes of intervention by both speakers the President took to the podium again but was whistled down forcing speaker Muturi to eject Simba Arati.

He read the standing orders again and advised members who were unwilling to listen to the President to withdraw from the chamber as opposed to shouting him down.
